The Whitianga Ferry has been operating for over 120 years and is an iconic part of Whitianga’s history. Whitianga Waterway Cruises uses the 10m Mercury Star ferry to take you up the river and through the waterways. This ferry has been in service for the Whitianga Ferry for 35 years.

How long does the trip take?
The tour takes about 1hr 30 min
What do I need to bring?
Your camera, a water bottle/coffee, some snacks if you like, and a jacket if the day is cloudy or a bit windy.
Where can I park my car/campervan?
There are plenty of free unrestricted time carparks Z Pier on the corner of Blacksmith Lane and The Esplanade.

Where does the trip depart from?
The boat departs from Z Pier in the Whitianga Marina (1 Esplanade, Whitianga).
Can I bring food/refreshments on the boat?
Yes, you are welcome to bring food and refreshments. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, cold drinks, and snacks are available for purchase.
What happens if the trip is cancelled due to weather conditions?
Both the river and waterways are situated in enclosed waters, so the water will always be calm. In case of extreme rain, you will be contacted in the morning of the tour and will receive a full refund if you’re not able to reschedule your trip.
